i use freedom pop uk app on my fone here in canada got it activated in uk with sim by a friend and you get 200mins to uk numbers a month for free works great even over lte might be worth a try

That's funny my wife struggles with now then but mainly all the Canadians I've met seem to struggle with owt or nowt they give me the funniest looks
