Default Lawyer as representation for spousal sponsorship

Hi I'm sorry if this isnt appropriate to be asked but my wife (Canadian) and I (British) are trying to decide if it would be good idea to have a law firm help prepare application for residency.

I was wondering if any one on here have had experience that could help us and maybe if allowed any recommendations

Thank you in advance :-)

Hello and welcome to BE!

Unless you have circumstances such as a brush with the law in your youth or something else that could cause difficulties, there really is no need to have an Immigration Consultant apply on your behalf. Spousal Application is the easiest route to Permanent Residency!

Our very own Schnookololy has written a very helpful wiki article which you will find of use and there are literally hundreds on BE who have applied and can offer advice.

Spousal Sponsorship-Canada : British Expat Wiki
Spousal Sponsorship-Canada/FAQ : British Expat Wiki

Obviously it's down to you, but why not save the money for your expenses!

By the way, if you do decide to use an Immigration consultant, please ensure they are registered and authorised - there are a lot of dodgy ones out there! Another alternative, if you are a little worried, is to have your application checked by a company specialising in it.

Find out if your representative is authorized
