Re: Anyone here in Manitoba or Saskatchewan?

Don’t discount Moose Jaw in your investigation of places to live in SK. You could quite easily live equi-distant between Moose Jaw and Regina with easy access via the Trans Canada Highway (highway...

Re: Biting the bullet and moving back! (Temporarily)

Haha! Of course I'm looking for all opinions. The only reason this move would work out not being too expensive is that I would stay with family to minimize accommodation costs and bring only a...

Re: Where are all the jobs hiding in Canada?

It really is the nature of the beast here in AB and the recent fire definitely hasn't helped matters. For a short term move a big city would be OK, I've just got used to small town living.

Re: Where are all the jobs hiding in Canada?

I've asked for feedback from the interviews and I'm told it was between me and one other person, but the other person just had a slight edge experience/education wise. One job I lost out on because...

Re: Where are all the jobs hiding in Canada?

We've looked into going up to Fort Mac, he has even applied to some stuff there, but no luck as yet. It's not really somewhere you want to descend on in the hopes of getting work, you need to know...

Where are all the jobs hiding in Canada?

Has anyone other than me fallen out of love with AB recently? I have had a rough year and half here - I was signed off on medical leave in Jan 2015, finally had surgery to fix the problem in July...

Re: Considering a temporary move back to the UK

Re: Should I go home without my fiancé?

:goodpost:
I've read your posts and they scream at me that you are in the same situation I was in 4 years ago - although I'm in Canada and my ex didn't have the family issues.
I am 36 too, I was...

Considering a temporary move back to the UK

Hi all. I'm looking for opinions/advice about possibly moving back to the UK for a short period of time.
I currently live in Alberta, Canada. I've been here for 10 years and am a Canadian citizen so...

Re: Citizenship Test and Oath can be together ?

I had my test and oath on the same day. The letter stated the time for each with the caveat of "as long as you pass your test, your oath ceremony will be at......"
You may be able to rearrange the...

Re: Airport agents and all the typing they used to do.

I didn't use a windows based system, we were still on SABRE when I worked check-in and baggage claim. Most of it was 2 character codes (one alpha on numeric) to get people checked in and assigned...

Re: Where to live in Calgary and Commuting

The footbridge at Anderson station gets you across McLeod to Southcentre mall. You would have to find a way of getting to the bridge first. Canyon Meadows is pretty much the same, it's just to ease...

Re: Back to the UK for a potential spouse or stay in Canada

Just playing devils advocate here for a bit. Say it works out with UK guy and he can find a way to come to Van, but after a year or so wants to go back to the UK, what do you choose then? Plenty of...

Re: Has anyone moved from Ontario to Alberta

I must confess to not reading much past the highlighted part of this post, but I had to reply to this point in particular.

Calgary is a massive urban sprawl; it grows out and only recently has...

Re: Do you get Christmas off & Do you like your commute?

I will have Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing day off, then a half day for NYE, and off New Year's Day and Jan 2nd. I was going to use my last 4 days holiday to get the whole 2 weeks off, but for a...

As you (and others) have said, your fruit intake is far too high, especially if you have concerns about diabetes/high blood sugar! I am currently being monitored for type 2 diabetes and my doctor...

Re: Calgary Oath Ceremony - How Many Family/Friends?

I did mine in Calgary at the Harry Hays building in 2013 and was allowed to sit wherever I wanted and next to my guest, as did everyone else there.

Not sure if it's changed now.

Re: How much do you spend?

Wal-Mart is very tricky. I've noticed they put things on the end of the isle with the big red and yellow signs above them to make it look like the item is on sale, when it's not as there is no...

I can spend anywhere from $300 to $600 every 2 weeks on groceries, gas eating out and extras like clothes and shoes for the kids (they...

Re: experiences with being home sick

As others have said, it depends on how bad your homesickness is.

I have been hit badly by it on a few occasions, other times a quick trip to a British shop (or if you're lucky your local Walmart...

Re: Recommended Canadian Relocation/Visa Experts

It will be a whole heap cheaper to do it yourself, think at least 2000 pounds. The only fees you pay when DYI-ing it are the actually government fees and not the over-inflated fees the agencies...

Re: Recce Trip in (Southern) Alberta

This is similar with Airdrie. I know there is an ICE bus (or 2) that run to Calgary, but I have no idea where they pick up from or if you would need a car to do park and ride to actually use it....
