It is impossible for my combined PR/work permit application to be submitted prior to my current visitor visa expiring on 30th October

Your generalisation is poor at best.

There are plenty of people who drive...because they have to. They do have a choice, they can not have freedom, not go to work...

i do have a criminality issue.... 1 incident from 2003 in uk resulted in magistrates court and 60 pound fine, nothing before or after

my visa application/sposal sponsorship etc was put on hold last May when I had to return to the UK as my Dad was ill. He sadly passed away and I returned to Canada in August, not really in the mood...
