Re: Buying a Leasehold Flat - Survey? Or Not?

Hi - Thanks for the reply and welcome to the site (notice its your first post) What you say underlines the importance of a 'good solicitor' to check what exactly you are liable for.

Re: Buying a Leasehold Flat - Survey? Or Not?

Re: Buying a Leasehold Flat - Survey? Or Not?

I hear what you're saying, Englishmum, about a 'rogue seller who then emigrates' - no, I'm not sure either how you'd get 'redress'.

Re: Holidaying in Malta?

I first holidayed in Malta in 1976: the thing I remember about the buses (many dated from the 1950s then, or even earlier) was that there was always a little statue of the Virgin Mary, just behind...

Buying a Leasehold Flat - Survey? Or Not?

Hi Folks

I shortly hope to buy a leasehold flat in Kent. The building dates from the 1890s.

I know the conventional wisdom is 'always have a survey carried out by a Chartered Surveyor' - but...

Re: New to BE

Hi Simon

I noticed the magic words retired to Sweden; what part of the country are you in? I'm between Stockholm and Uppsala by the way.

There don't seem to be many of us in Sweden (at least on...

Re: New Euro Deal Enough??

The 'headline' grabbing details are known (investors in Greece will lose out etc) but other details are still to be worked out.

For example, Europe's leaders want to have a bigger 'bailout' fund -...

Re: It's far better abroad

... depends rather on what part of whatever country you're in really, and how much you make of it.

I think you'll always feel 'cut off' if you don't learn the native language. I lived in Spain for...

Re: Moving to Stockholm - a few questions

One of the problems in finding anywhere to rent in Stockholm is that 'new home' building - in recent years - hasn't really kept pace with the number of people wanting to go and live/work there.

Re: Rugby World Cup 2011 Thread

Well - you never know... only when all the matches have been played will we find out. Think its unlikely (myself) that there'll be any other winner than New Zealand.

I just noticed in the last few...

Re: Rugby World Cup 2011 Thread

You never know - I reckon New Zealand haven't had much of a taste for 'knock-out' rugby lately.

Question is - would they dare have an attack of the collywobbles in front of their own supporters?...

At the end of the day, the 'Nay Sayers' (from the Daily Mail, or anywhere else) play their part in providing market research which could help folks decide which country they want to live...

Re: Article about unhappy Britain
