Re: Update:Back 15 months.

Yes. It is difficult. I will not go into detail here as it's a public forum but yes, Aus vs UK is irrelevant in many ways, it just complicates things further. Though I will point out that it was my...

Re: Update:Back 15 months.

I'm a bit confused by your reply? Perhaps because I haven't "put my foot down" or "refused to budge" is why I've had supportive replies. In fact I have tried very very hard to save my marriage and...

Re: Parents advice please!

Yes, travelling definitely gets easier with kids as they get older. My two (now 12 & 9) adore long haul with all the films and games etc. I think it's easier when they are about 5/6 plus.

Update:Back 15 months.

Not sure if many people remember me, I haven't posted a lot. Left Melbourne a year ago with my OH and our 2 children after 4.5 years and returned to the UK.

We settled in Harrogate. Or at least I...

Just musing

We left the UK in 2006 and returned from Melbourne last year.

I was watching the incredible Olympics last night and reflecting that there seems so much more national pride and sense of community...

Re: Anyone near Wetherby (Yorkshire)?

I'm in Harrogate, it's lovely :) I like the Travellers Rest near the Yorkshire show ground, lovely pub where dogs welcome in the bar area. And good food :). Also bonus great countryside view.

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

I'm sorry to read your story, you too sound immensely strong and your ex obviously didn't recognize a good thing when he had it.

We are going to review life back in Oz next May and if the kids...

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Thanks, hopefully we'll be regular visitors back here and if the kids want to finish their education back here they can. I do need to hold onto the thought that we are in a very privileged position...

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Hi, yes have done Bettys in H'gate & Ilkley and we go to York quite frequently. One thing about being time limited is that we try and fit more in rather than think "oh I've all the time in the world...

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Very true! I try and be fairly fatalistic, what will be will be and things usually work out, just not the way you'd planned sometimes.

Glad you're enjoying being back :)

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Too right! Without going into too much detail on a public forum I hear you re:mental health and have tried as hard as I can to get him to get help. It hasn't really worked out :(.

What will be...

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

It's so hard isn't it? The pre-return contract sounds quite clinical and business like and of course doesn't really carry much weight but it does at least establish new ground rules. I've also found...

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Thank you, I've had a few raised eyebrows when I've mentioned it in real life and of course there's no legal comeback if my OH doesn't stick to what we've agreed but it makes me feel better and it's...

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

Re: Been back 9 months now, and will be returning to Oz

It's very reassuring to hear that other people have gone through this and survived. I'm glad I posted now, thought twice about it as it's so personal and britishexpats is so public.

I'm sorry to...
