This is a difficult situation. In my experience both people involved in a separation or divorce feel that they are in the right and the UK vs Aus thing sounds like a bit of an excuse. So now comes the difficult part, the divorce and custody of the children. In all but the most exceptional circumstances your husband should be a part of your childrens' lives so negotiating that across 12k miles will be difficult.
I would like him to be in our children's lives but he has to make that relationship happen, he is the adult, not them, and at the moment is not really trying regarding phone/email/Skype contact.
It makes me overwhelmingly sad.

Yes. It is difficult. I will not go into detail here as it's a public forum but yes, Aus vs UK is irrelevant in many ways, it just complicates things further. Though I will point out that it was my OH who originally wanted to come back to the UK from Aus, not me.

I'm so, so sorry to hear about the loss of your marriage Toodlepip! But I'm really glad you've settled in well, it doesn't balance out the heartache I'm sure, but still. Best of luck with everything this coming year- I'll be rooting for you!
