Walgreens ones work just fine. When you walk up to one of the printing kiosks and select passport photos, they have the option of selecting which country and have a list of several to choose from...

We did it the other way round I guess..We got the LO's US passport and just recently received his British passport. Wife was born after 1983 so HMPO UK asked for grandmothers...

The helpline can be quite useless BUT on the positive side, I found out today all calls are recorded and logged (in case you are given conflicting information and need to reference back to helpline)....
