Thanks very much , but I would like to ask if in fact you sent the colour photos and were they accepted? I stupidly already applied and naively entered my second passport details online ...

I've never done it, so wouldn't know. I know what I will be doing though, and that is sending a black & white copy of the bio page of my second passport.

The UK government's request is just so over the top given if you're a USC you can only enter and leave with that passport. No amount of ETF's from the idiot Brits are going to overcome that problem.

TODAY 10 April ' 14, I CAN SAY THAT I RECEIVED MY NEW UK PASSPORT. IT TOOK 4 weeks.
I did NOT send my secondary passport, but did send full colour copies of all pages
- with covering letter.

thanks to all here

He also said that its possible for the UK or its Consulate to offer Emergency Travel Papers. I said that this would not be valid for EXIT from my place of residence.. in addition, I imagine this could be an expensive item!. Meanwhile I have paid the Application Fee by Debit Card...

If I do send colour photos of my second passport and there is a demand for the original, it could mean further delay beyond the Four Weeks.
What should I do?
