Re: hiring washing machine and lawn mower

I was at my local Bunnings Warehouse today and there was a blackboard outside advertising lawnmowers for hire at $20 for 4 hours I think it was.

Re: Should we bring a car?

If you import it as part of your personal possessions i.e. not paying any tax on it, then as well as having owned it for 12 months before, you need to keep it for 24 months in NZ before selling - or...

Question Unoccupied house insurance

Can anyone recommend an insurance co that will insure our house in the Uk until we sell it?
It was insured through the Britannia, but since they've joined with the co-op they can't offer a suitable...

Re: Well the packers are in

I agree 100%, our packers were very good at packing - quick, safe, well packed etc, but not so good at labelling and packed everything even if I thought it obvious it shouldn't have been done - I had...

Re: On Our Way To Tauranga

If you're in Welcome Bay then you'll be in the zone for Tauranga Boys' College and (i think) Tauranga Girls' College. Our 13-y-o boy just started at TBC at the end of Year 9 and settled in quickly...

Re: Fixing a number plate to a car

I'm getting some numberplate sized white bits from him to make my own adaptors (the car's white) and if that looks too ugly then I'll get some of the long plate frames with the NZ flag stars at one...

Re: Fixing a number plate to a car

Hi, the option I was considering was using a short bolt (cut even shorter if needs be) and thin nut as the plates are only a couple of mm thick. I'd then just need to stick some padding in to stop...

Re: Fixing a number plate to a car

I sent an email to that guy a couple of days ago and he was helpful, but doesn't do just the right combination of long adaptors for a std NZ plate. I am considering using the frames you linked to...

Re: Fixing a number plate to a car

Col, the problem is that the holes in the boot (four holes complete with inserts for the number plate screws) are so widely spaced that they are outside the footprint of the NZ plate.
The only...

Fixing a number plate to a car

Hi,
I've just got a car compliance checked and registered and got my shiny new NZ plates, trouble is they need to be screwed to the car and the holes don't line up. The original UK plate on the boot...

Re: OK bear with me its a bit complicated

I guess it should be possible to get your partnership visa in 2or 3 months in the UK, IF everything goes smoothly with your medical and you have the police certificates from all the appropriate...

Re: Trivial question ~ apologies!

Our shipper's NZ office asked us what alcohol we had, its value and when bought so they could tell Customs. It was just stuff we hadn't got round to drinking before we left - nothing special so I...

Re: validating visa?

I think what you're referring to is when someone has their visa and can't for some reason - like waiting to sell a house in the UK - move permanently to NZ within the time specified on their visa, so...

Re: Mount Maunganui & Tauranga watch out!

We've just been looking for a house - and now, we hope, have found one on the edge of Welcome Bay.
One agent told me that prices for the size of place we were looking for (3+ bedrooms with an extra...

Re: Insuring goods whilst in transit

Everyone usually recommends Letton Percival. Well worth getting a quote from them even if you do eventually decide on your shipper's insurance, your shipper may not come down to LP's quote but...
