Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

Definitely not interested in the west coast. Too far away. We are still a little on the fence on whether to stay or go. There are so many good reasons to stay, and so many to go. In the end we'll...

Smile Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

Hilarious. Great point too. Vancouver is moving further away from the UK with similar, or worse, weather. I don't think I'm liberal or hip enough to survive living on the west coast anyway.

Re: Nearly 6 years - miss England terribly

Another 6 Music fan? One of the things that helps keep me sane. All my favourite DJs from the 90's seem to have made their way there, including Steve Lamaq, Mark Radcliffe and Mark Riley. I've been...

Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

It's like Father Ted. Biscuit or Cake? You want both, but can only have one. It's often difficult to choose. Cake though, obviously.

Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

That's never really been me. I rarely go to Tim's these days.

I was last in the UK in January 2020, just before the lock down. Prior to that we went as a family in 2018. We try to get back ever 2...

Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

Thanks for the feedback.

We've looked around at other places in Canada, but it's either moving out to the boonies or spending a fortune for something similar to what we already have.

Personally...

Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

Interesting. We lived in Bow, near Vicki Park. I loved it when I was younger. It's a great place to live when you are starting out. Not sure I'd live there now. Mainly because it's so expensive now.

Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

I seem to remember you can only bring your net worth into Canada tax free one time only. So if we decided to move back again, we might have a hefty tax bill. We also just don't want to go through the...

Re: Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

We do live in Oakville, and could sell our house and buy somewhere decent in the UK. That is a huge driver for us.
My Wife is Canadian, which is why we moved here. We love it here, but it's just a...

Re: Nearly 6 years - miss England terribly

I was a big fan of Shooting Stars back in the 90's. It was brilliant at the time with some ingenious elements. My friends and I still Club Sing to this day.

Move back to UK or stay in Canada?

After 16 years of living in Canada, we are considering moving back to the UK. It seems like a much harder decision than it was when we moved to Canada. I think we realise this is a one way ticket...

Re: How important is space?

We were lucky to have made enough money on our one bedroom flat in London to buy a nice fully detached house here. It's not big by Canadian standards, but it's plenty big enough for our little...

Re: An Idiot Abroad

You are so right. The car phone warehouse scene was brilliant. I also loved the episode with Patrick Stewart.

Re: BE Expats- Toronto Branch Meet Up- October?

I know the place. It's near the Bier Markt. Which is, incidentally, a great place for Beer lovers.

Re: BE Expats- Toronto Branch Meet Up- October?

Is the Yard a venue or an area? Just wondering as I may pitch up myself.

Re: Favorite Current TV Shows

River Monsters (Discovery Channel). My Son and I love this. I'm not an angler myself, but Jeremy Wade is a true, no-nonsense adventurer.

Re: London Riots

I'm a bit late to the party on this one. (Been busy having a life etc.)

I was at school during the London riots of the early 80's, and these seem strangely reminiscent. The m.o. is different due...

Re: An Idiot Abroad

I used to listen to this on XFM back in 2003. It went out between 2 and 4pm every Saturday. I tried my best to listen wherever I was.

I got the pod casts a couple of years ago, but I had to...

Re: Bacon Butties

I was referring to visiting my Grandparents house, and rarely leaving without a bacon sandwich and several cups of tea. I know it's probably nostalgia, but bacon sandwiches are still a treat for me....

Re: Bacon Butties

I agree the bacon you buy here that is supposed to be English style is a little bland.

Your sandwich idea does sound pretty good, but I still prefer the English style on white bread with HP...

Bacon Butties

I know bacon has been covered here before, but just thought I'd mention I enjoyed a nice bacon sarnie (I'm from the South) at 5am today while watching the wedding. (We managed to find some British...

Re: Remortgaging - Good deals?

Using a Broker is a good idea, but do some home work first so you know where the best deals are. There are plenty of websites that have current lending rates by lender.

Remember that mortgages in...

Re: "Cryo Kids" - should they or shouldn`t they?

Absolutely the identity of the donor should be kept anonymous.

In this case the parents decided to use a donor when they discovered the Father was infertile. Surely it's enough of a kick in the...

Re: Who doesn't post on here, who would like too because it seems too cliquey?

Well this certainly seems to have stirred up the female members.

Next you lot will be burning your bras.
