The school are familiar with taking non Canadian passport holders away but the info they gave me says she needs a visa before she can travel. I'll talk with the school tomorrow to make sure they...

$100k is very well paid for the area, housing is cheaper than UK and if your main concern is schools, stay in the UK

In BC you have to take a theory test and a driving test - you can't swap a UK licence for a BC one.

Christmasoompa - why did you feel the need to edit my post - what I put was a direct quote from another member but his wasn't edited! His use of the term **** yourself is why I responded.

Our doctor is wonderful (he's British!) and we have found the medical services wonderful. Schools on the other hand are not so good - you need to pick very carefully and keep your fingers crossed. ...

Agreed - Comox is considered a retirement area. Nicer than Courtenay but they are adjoined so still near enough for town/facilities
