Re: Shooting at home

I'm no expert on the Chassepot but know a couple of things. As far as I know they didn't make a carbine but a huge batch of original rifles were converted into carbines.
Take a look at the breech,...

Re: woodburner c/heating

I thought that may be the case as I've run agas with un-plumbed back boilers before without hurting them. I figuered that if we lost power and it boiled up then venting the water/steam out would be...

Re: Shooting at home

Cat 8 are 'historic' arms. These can even be breech loaders that use cartridges such as the Russian needle gun, the sharps 'trapdoor' or the famous Chassepot that pre-date the historic arms cut-off...

Re: Shooting at home

A proper range I would define as a licenced range, but there is no mention of licence just permission of the land owner.
I've started with ball trap, but the club I'm a member with in Arlay have...

Re: woodburner c/heating

Definitely steel (worst luck as my experience is in copper).
I'm guessing because of the 3 foot thick walls here the system circuits round rads on the (more open) 2nd floor with drop pipes to rads...

Thumbs up Re: Shooting at home

Thanks roger.
I checked that link and found:
Where can I use my weapon from 5th/7th category?

This part is not explicitly explained in the law of 1995. But it should be retained on a purely...

Re: woodburner c/heating

It's all great advice but my problem comes with the size of the system I want to tap into.
It's a 3 floor oil fired biggy (this place used to house 200 kids) and what I want to do is heat just a...

Re: Shooting at home

The tell-tale neighbor I put down to the usual xenophobia you get when a foreigner owns the biggest property in the village (the chateau).
I chose to do it on a tuesday afternoon while most people...

Re: Shooting at home

Thank you for your opinion, but I was only after information regarding the law in France not a debate on the morality of firearms.

woodburner c/heating

This chateau has a oil burner the size of a small car and we plain can't afford to heat the whole house or run it for the small part we inhabit. We have acres of free wood hence the wood burner.

Shooting at home

I normally shoot at a club but I was shooting off a few round of BP at home doing some powder load calculations.
I'd just finished up and had the striped revolver on the bench when the gandarm...

Re: KFC takes on Mc Donalds in France.

I just hope the French can cook a decent KFC. 'cause you can't get a decent one in the UK any more.
Thanks to Nanny State they've taken most of the salt and tasty fat out, so now the normal KFC (as...

Re: Legless ( or seeking a prosthetist )

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm afraid Orthopedic prosthetics are things like hip or knee replacement (ortho is to do with bone).

Re: What's this fly and do they bite?

Looks like a housefly but bites? We get a lot of them round here, we think because of the cattle.
Does the bite bleed a tiny spot right after the bite, and is it a small hard bump?

Possibly they...

Legless ( or seeking a prosthetist )

Back in the UK the NHS gave me a pretty good leg but here I can have even better. The trouble is the prosthetist I go to in Dole doesn't do the socket system I'm good with (ratchet system) so they...

Been in...
