It is not possible to have an original divorce decree from the UK. The original remains with the court. Everything else is a certified copy. This seems to cause conceptual problems for the US...

Not strictly true. To file taxes you need an ITIN for which you do NOT require a SSN in fact not having a SSN is a positive factor when applying for a ITIN.

Everyone including illegals is required...

As I understand it CBSA agents have direct access to NCIC, US State and Federal firearms registration, prison and jail data, arrest warrants at all levels in the USA, and the US Marshal's wanted...
