Travelling To Canada - Better Not Have A DWI In Your Past

I was speaking to one of my Co-Horts, the other day, who informed me that one of his passengers was denied entry into Canada, because of two past DWI Convictions.
Having looked through a couple of message boards on problems of getting into Canada, 37 Passengers on a cruise-ship were denied entry into Nova Scotia because of "Skeletons In Their Closet" and there are other examples of similar instances of people being denied entry for misdemeanors in the US, which are considered more serious Up North.
Just something you and your family should be aware of, in case you are thinking of a trip North of the Border.
Jim.

Let's hope they never want to move here then. When they produce their police record and are faced with a lifetime ban for material misrep they may regret the little "white lie".
And yes CA and USA authorities do have a shared information policy.

Well that might be true now but it has to be fairly recent. I can recall back in 2001 it was not true. Gentleman from Ottawa traveled back and forth over the border to visit GF in Pennsylvania and he had 3 DUI's in Ottawa and 2 in the States and one refusal at the border for bringing in copied discs for his gf's computer.
The only problem he had was that in order to AOS a few years later was that he needed to attend a PA course in regards to the DUI's in the states.

As I understand it CBSA agents have direct access to NCIC, US State and Federal firearms registration, prison and jail data, arrest warrants at all levels in the USA, and the US Marshal's wanted lists. In addition all US State DMV and driver records, as well as commercial vehicle and bus registrations. US Military warrants for deserters and AWOL persons and FBI wanted persons.

Although I could not immediately verify that this is being done today, at the same time that the US began sharing US citizens' records with Canada, it was proposed that Mexico also have access to the same data base as Canada.
Scary thought?

DH who is a dual Can/Am citizen just returned from Montreal yesterday afternoon. On the way into Canada he presented his Canadian passport and the officer demanded to see his US Passport as well.
First off she had no right to demand his US passport and he refused to show it to her. Second if knowledge is so easily shared but why did she have to ask for it since they supposedly have access to all US information. Third I would love to know where you get this information.
