First of all welcome to Jeddah. :D

I read a lot of exaggerations from some people who replied to this topic. I think Jeddah is safer than any city in Europe, London or pairs for example. :)

it mostly depends on you ! you can go out with your workmates to shops , resturants or beach ! Don't bother about social life here , friends come soon !

Kaust is actually a new university .it is located 70 km north of Jeddah, in an old small village called Thawal. and if you sated there I think will live in the university compound !

I really noticed that all expats do not usually sociliaze with saudis. what is the reason for that ? I really like to converse with people who are from different culture and ethnicity.
