I just did the whole conversion process at my local aci (my uk driving license is due to expire soon). The whole thing cost me a whopping 180 euro!!! I had to get a medical certifcate from my regular...

Check the back of the ID card, it should say "Valido per espatrio" and if it does you can use it for travel within the EU.

I think you have to book. Loading, journey, unloading took about 40 mins in total but to be honest it was a long time ago and I don't remember much.

We got stopped at Pisa airport (on the way to the UK) last year as my son's ID card doesn't have our names on it, Luckily I had with my his "lasciapassare" which is still valid and has our names on...

I was a kindle skeptic but got given one for Christmas and am now a total convert! I read loads and get a bit panicky if I run out of (English) books to read but with a kindle you can just download...

The "notaio" was pretty clear that it was necessary. We asked if the "stato di famiglia" was enough and he said no. Maybe it's something that varies from region to region.
