Thanks for all the replies. I tend to think the booths should be avoided because of what was said above. I suppose we can find a photographer open somewhere by now - certainly the last two weeks...

That's a mystery then!!
We had the music but there was no sound coming out of their mouths. When we tried switching to Italian the sound was ok, no problem. Back to English and only the background...

Actually, I'm trying to avoid asking relatives to post bacon! I already ask for too many favours.
The mayonnaise problem is solved by getting an order from one of the many companies which ship it....

It won't even get you that in Rome. You won't find much below 450, and that's just the rent, doesn't include condominium, lighting, gas etc.

You'd have to do a search for apartments in Rome. I don't know much about serviced apartments. If you mean what they call a residence I think the prices are about 2000-3000 euro for a month, but...

It depends what you want to do in Italy and how long you stay. A permesso di soggiorno is no longer necessary, no, but that piece of paper which was mentioned is called an "attestato di soggiorno"...
