my pension is a 'personal pension' the pension company said its not sipps but I can change the 'risk' level where it is invested, do you think that qualifies for FBAR reporting ?

Seems like I have two main options, after speaking to 3 accountants !!
Both with risks.

1. to file this year correctly then hope the IRS doesn't notice the back years, filing the FBars and 8938...

I'm an adult & have an opportunity to work with some 17 year olds on a software project.
I would manage them , they live in UK and I live in California.

the money is in an instant access savings account, not tied up in any shares, bonds etc.
do we need to inform them of pensions now ?

So if I transfer all my UK bank monies to a balance under $10k I will not need to submit a FBAR ? Or will they want to know about last year ?

My UK monies are approx $100k so would take over 10 transfers which may look suspicious.

It's basically the risk of IRS being notified by the US bank of the transfer or filling out this years FBAR...
