Default DS-156 help

Hi there,
I had a recent H1b approved and now have returned to London to get it stamped at the embassy and then plan to return to US asap.

The DS 156 asks how long i intend to stay in the US, in reality I plan to stay for 2 to 3 years but I've heard that I shoudl state no longer than 6 months on the form as it's 'temporary employment', this I understand.

However, I was recently married in the US and that is where my wife lives and where I want to be, stating 6 months looks like a lie so I'm a little torn on what to put here as then I would have to state why I plan to return back to UK when my wife is in USA.

Any advice ?
thanks
nick.

that is the future plan but for now I have the H1b and need to make sure I get re-entry to the US and prevent questions when I visit the consulate this week.

Hi:

How much time on your H-1b petition? You don't say. If there is 2 years left on the petition -- say 2 years.
