Re: 175 PR - can secondary applicant validate visa before primary applicant?

Thanks Pollyana! I had no idea that the tourist visa would 'kill' my PR visa. Good to know. Whow, that really freaked me out.

I'll better get in touch with DIAC about this.

175 PR - can secondary applicant validate visa before primary applicant?

My partner and I were planning to validate our PR visa in December. I am the secondary applicant and from researching on this forum, it appears that the main visa holder has to validate the country...

Re: working holiday visa -> PR?

The company can sponsor him on a 457 visa without him having to leave the country. My company did this recently and it is pretty straight forward.

PR visas like the 175 are offshore visas. While...

Re: Issues arising from trying to get sponsorship from more than one State

[QUOTE
If you're already here why isn't your employer sponsoring you for PR?
I guess the company enjoys the feeling of power and my inability of saying ADIOS without jeopardising my visa...

Re: Issues arising from trying to get sponsorship from more than one State

I honestly hope that DIAC stops the whole state sponsor thing altogether.
I am at the moment trying to apply for PR. Despite fulfilling the 120 point criteria, it could be years until the...

Re: Non IELTS and Second Instalment Charges?

Just out of interest, did you supply the IELTS test for your spouse when applying for the visa or did you submit the results while the visa was already submitted?

Re: 175 applications without IELTS results?

I'm not the main applicant. I assumed that this is only to avoid the second installment which would be incurred if one can't proof sufficient english for the secondary applicants.

175 applications without IELTS results?

My partner and I are planning to apply for the 175 visa. I would be the secondary applicant. English is not first language, hence I have to sit an IELTS test. Given the current slow processing times...

Re: Moving to Sydney and working near Darling Harbour-Sydney South

Oops, I obviously didn't recommend Newtown for families. It was more in reply to Swerv. However, I love the shopping and food in Newtown. Definitely second Balmain for family life. However, good luck...

Re: Moving to Sydney and working near Darling Harbour-Sydney South

Newtown isn't too bad either. If only it would be closer to the water. Lucky you, Balmain at day and Newtown at night! Not bad, not bad :)

Re: Moving to Sydney and working near Darling Harbour-Sydney South

I love Balmain. Seems like everybody does, so after hitting the Saturday viewings every week, we gave up to ever find anything in this great spot.

Re: Moving to Sydney and working near Darling Harbour-Sydney South

The inner west is quite popular with families. Abbotsford, CHiswick and Drummoyne seem to be full of Mummies with children. Sydney Ferries run from there directly to Darling Harbour. Average commute...

Re: Anyone else having problems finding work on 457?

Hi Steve, same here! I only tend to apply for jobs that are a 100% match between the job spec and my skills and still no success. Very frustrating!

How long do you need to wait for PR?

Re: Anyone else having problems finding work on 457?

I am on the 457 partner visa. It's my partner, who is tied to his job. Theoretically I am eligible to work for anyone and anywhere for the next four years.
