French and English are the official language of the Olympic movement. Things have to be said in three languages, English, French and the host language (though obviously the third language is skipped as English is spoken in Britain)

I have to admit to having shed a little tear at Abide With Me............ a truly moving moment (and judging by what I'm reading on Twitter, I wasn't the only one).

loving the latest tweet by Stella MacCartney( if it could be said with a panic tone I think it would);

thanks for the support! To clarify, Stella designed the Team GB performance kit, podium suit & villagewear, not the Olympic ceremony suits.

Absolutely amazing. Classy, Spectacular, Showed Britain to be one of the top nations in the world and exactly the right choice for an Olympics at this difficult economic time. Well Done Mr Boyle and everyone else involved - You nailed it
