Remember, Israel's only friend in the Middle East is Egypt too.

...err, only because of the Camp David Accords. They had to be "friends" or they would have kissed goodbye to the biggest USAID package ever.

As Meow says, we are living in interesting times now.

True.... although I was more thinking of the Arab-Gas pipeline and Israel's imports of cheap Egyptian gas.

Theoretically, yes, but isn't it time Israel invaded them? It's been quite a while.......

Well, I have a feeling the Egyptians have just stepped on to their toes...

from Al aljazeera.net

"What makes this so significant is that this is in the Sinai Peninsula. Under the terms of the Camp David accord, a peace treaty signed between Israel and Egypt, there was to be complete restrictions on any military ever entering the Sinai. It was always that the security in the Sinai could only ever be handled by police forces. This would indicate that police are no longer doing their job in the Sinai peninsula."

muslim brotherhood don't seem to be an extremist group, however that may change when a struggle for takeover begins, true colours might come out.

personally from the last couple of times I have been in Cairo, they don't seem to be a likely candidate for an Islamic type state, I think the door of westernisation is open and they would find it very hard to revert back now.

Several of my friends are conflict hacks and are thinking along the same lines - FB updates talking about meeting up in the Sinai. No more cheap diving packages to Sharm for a while...

Revertion has happend before. Look at Iran before the Shah was deposed.

All these situations are very depressing. Many people will be killed and I bet little will change for the common man.

Jet fighters over Cairo.

Do they think parading their toys will impress anybody?

Pathetic.
