Good grief. Just caught up with this thread.
So if I've got it right, the Muslim world is perfect doesn't need anyone or anything from the West and Westerners are all wholy dependent on alcohol, are all raving alcoholics and in the wrong as we largely don't believe a work of fiction written over 1,400 year ago which was also some 20 years after the death of this alleged prophet?

All this discussion about how destructive alcohol is to the West ignores that tobacco is just as bad to the Muslim countries. Middle Easterners, particularly from the Levant, have to be among the heaviest smokers in the world. Possibly only the Chinese can beat them.

This whole idea that city centres in the UK are no-go areas, or mayhem, or war zones, or whatever on a Friday and Saturday night is largely tabloid bollocks though. I’ll accept there is trouble, mostly caused by drink, but of the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) who will be out how many really end up in A&E or in the cells? Must be a fraction of a %, that doesn’t make for good headlines though.
