I trump on your pedantry.

Oh yeah, a weird and whacky idea of what constitutes humour is also what makes Britain Great (and makes the United Kingdom United).

You merely diluted my pedantry

Furthermore, I don't see how Britian can be considered great anyway. I mean, I don't live there anymore ...

See Sally's answer in the second post in this thread

Indeed, Geoffrey of Monmouth, brother of Richard the Lionheart, son of Henry II, referred to it as Great Britain to differentiate it from Brittany.

There has been a fair bit of criticism in the popular media that Bruce has had his day. He doesn't quite have what he used to, but he still has more talent in his little finger than some of the ubiquitous young Blue Peter-ites that are splattered all over TV these days.

I think I must be getting old.

That was deliberate. I'm such a knob :D

What makes The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland great is it's obvious disdain for brevity ...

Oh and just to be a contrarian and piss everyone off, I've never liked Bruce Forsyth :scarper:

I should like to think you'd still have pointed it out. That was a bad one for me, since I hate misplaced apostrophes most of all.

Seriously, it'll take me weeks to get over that :D

I sort of like Bruce - just don't what it is about him that keeps him going at 80+.

Cross your fingers that upon he popping his clogs that there will be no dirt on him to emulate a J.S conundrum

I think this is OT. I've noticed that Americans get very exercised about misplaced apostrophes, so you can't claim that misplaced apostrophe pedantry is something that makes Great Britain uniquely great.

But I already put forth the hypothesis that it was, in fact, my birth that made the UK great and therefore it is actually very much on topic

Also, other things that make the UK great are snooker, chocolate hob nobs, Fox's Classics, BBC2 comedies and cider.
