Re: US Healthcare discussion moved from Over 50's & 60's thread
I will digress - just call me 'Dunroving'.. I know you are all located at the 4 corners of the great British Isles but are any of you intending on getting together. I only ask cos I am over for month in mid April-mid May and be nice to meet up if possible. For me the preferable meeting place is a pub as in Arizona there idea of an English pub is a farce.. Anyway my destinations are Preston, Manchester, Newton Stewart, Ireland (hope to see Denise2) and down South.. I will be on my tod for lots of my travels so it's just a thought but likely not possible to meet folks....

Re: US Healthcare discussion moved from Over 50's & 60's thread
OK dear friends, I am completely confused--I thought this was a separate thread just for discussion of US health care issues!
I have just logged in to it to see what's going on, because on the "real" original 50s & 60s thread there has been talk of "other threads," and I find it's full of all sorts of posts about various things besides health care.
And meanwhile there are fewer posts from some old friends on the original "real" 50s and 60s moving back thread...
DDL Denise, I have loved your posts and DO hope you won't stop posting over there--full English breakfast and all!
Sally I have been missing you there too, very much....
Poor mods, I feel for them, it's all a bit like herding cats!
Can't we all just keep talking on the original thread, as we were, and only post on this if we specifically want to talk about health care?
(And, I suppose, if we want to be extra silly (not my word, it's in the thread's name!), go on thread number 3 (!), the "50s & 60s silly chit-chat" one????!)
It's a great community, let's try and keep it together!
(Though I suppose I should say, for the record, that I thought a separate thread just for those heated US healthcare discussions did make sense--but only if it were restricted to that topic alone!).

But you like the British free NHS and generous welfare system when you are on the receiving end.

Whoa........you were the poster who was recently moaning about having to wait for NHS treatment and whinging about immigrants getting given things in the UK ; yet here you are, an immigrant yourself, doing the very thing you said you hate the immigrants doing.
But you like the British free NHS and generous welfare system when you are on the receiving end.

I vote we put the past behind us and that we move forward from this point

If people keep feeding the fire the flames will never die down. US Healthcare does have it's own thread now, whether any of us agree with it being split from the main thread or not is a moot point now. The continual posting of disrespectful comments about each other needs to stop as do the replies to those comments. In my opinion that is the quickest and easiest way to put this argument to rest. If anyone feels that they really must get something off their chest, then use the Private Message system

And on the subject of US healthcare, I was pleased to see the President defend his plan forcefully last night during the State of the Union.
