Well, as I have always said to others, if you don't like it, leave it. That is why I am leaving the country I am in.
Difficult to understand your position and your attitude, as you now live in London, in a very generous country in comparison to other countries. You must like something about GB!

I love the job market in GB!!!
What drives me nuts is the way that GB think they run Europe when in fact they are 50 years behind.
Paywise they are 50 years ahead...

I love your attitude, "You are not even British!!!"
(That was not really a problem for the company that offered me my current job and flew me over to the UK, but then again, they couldnt find anyone with my skills at the time)
...oh best part of it, I made them agree to make my salary taxfree, since I am not British Citizen and it is a 3 year contract...
No why should I be British? It is only a problem to have a British passport, as you still need working permit in Scandinavia and Switzerland with a UK pasport, with a Spanish passport it is plain sailing.
What are you doing in Italy then, I suppose that you are fluent in Italian?
I am on here because I am looking around for where to go next...and no other country has a website for expats (maybe they are happy where they are)

Oh, and by the way, try and improve your writing 'skills'-your spelling is appalling.

Well after living in Italy for almost 20 years I think I am slightly fluent! See, 'British' people CAN learn languages! And as for moaning about mass immigration, take a look at yourself and your family!
Oh, and by the way, try and improve your writing 'skills'-your spelling is appalling.

I can tell that you are very happy with your achievments and not the least bitter. 20 Years in Bari hasn't been wasted away and you have a fantastic career and a happy marriage and good health. But keep in mind that we cannot all be as fortunate as yourself.
I'm sure your Italian spelling and accent is superior to my English, so isn't it unfair that I earn so much more than you?
I hardly see myself as being part of mass immigration. If a large corporation in the UK asks me to come and work for them and I have a signed employment contract before I arrive I think it is a bit different. Most definitely am I adding more value to this country than you ever did or will do.
I only speak four languages out of which English is my weakest, so I do apologise to all readers for my poor spelling.
Please leave my family outside of this discussion
My wife is a Cardiac Consultant, so who knows, perhaps she is saving the life of unhealthy bitter pensioner with cardiac arrest, perhaps just like you...
I do hope you can read my message despite my terrible spelling.
Try your best now to point out all my spelling mistakes, since that is the only fault you can find with me, so I am quite happy with that.

You are obviously a person in good balance and in harmony with yourself.

What are you doing on this thread anyway? It is dedicated to those who wish to return to their country. If people want to return why do you want to stop them?
For your information I am not a pensioner. I am in good health. I am happily married. I have lived all over Italy (Florence, Milan, Varese, Massa, Pescara) and now in Bari for the last few years. At least you can relate to the fact that outside of the UK (ie in Spain) jobs are crap.
There is no law against me wanting to include your family in this discussion as I find it quite ironic that you complain about 'immigrants' when both you and your family are. I am also an immigrant in Italy. Big deal!
If your skills are so great, why don't you set up a SPANISH EXPATS website. You could then moan to your hearts delight. Which would do us all a favour, since you would disappear from this one.

It is understandable that you already having a 40 year crisis though, 5th of October is just around the corner.
I wish you all luck to find a job in mid recession UK, especially since I doubt NARIC will be able to transfer your skills, you could always become a teacher since your spelling is so immaculate.
Hopefully Mr X spells better than myself so that he can get a job in the UK too.
Perhaps you should hit back on the people that caused you all this instead of taking out your frustration in the forum, and remember always report domestic violence, even in Italy.

My bloodpressure is excellent, I am a dedicated runner and I run London Marathon this year, just like the previous year.

Secondly, my husband actually does write better English than you.
Thirdly, my husband has NEVER laid a finger on me.
As I said before, set up your own website with the fantastic skills that you have and don't waste my time anymore.

I am soo happy for you, well I guess you already have a top job lined up here in the UK then for both you and Mr X
There is a great demand for angry 40year old women in the UK
I never said your husband hit you...but Bob's your uncle.
Don't we all know ho great Italians are at spelling (and football, I wish us Spainish could play as well as Italy or England...)
, so he should just walk right into a great job.
Drop the camper van though, it is not a good look, believe me.

There is no requirement to be British, or to be an Expat, in order to be a member of BE. We welcome everyone, as long as they abide by the rules.
These rules include asking people to respect the privacy of other posters, including those who do not wish to use their real names, or those of their family.
Can we also please keep the discussions polite - if someone's opinions annoy you, I suggest that you just ignore them and don't get into an argument.

In 2007 there were 26 teenagers murdered in London(a city of 7.5 million people)-not 3 a week.
Other nations have overtaken the UK for obesity including(surprisingly) Australia and many western countries experience MRSA in hospitals without reporting it to the same degree as in the UK.

Just wanted to update. I hope it gives hope to others.
After one web cam interview that lasted about an hour, with a miriad of video problems, my references checked out and I am now officially hired as a gm for restaurant in SW London.
Of the approximately 35 cvs sent out, I generated about 10 responses. Out of the 10, 8 said forget it. You gotta be in UK to be even taken seriously. 2 agreed to web cam interview, and out of those 2, 1 wanted an in person after I arrive in October.
That 1 person hired me while 6000 miles away. I have very good references and even the one hotel owner who fired me for me calling him a liar (long story, post tsunami issues), gave me the best reference of all.
Income? Well, I am not complaining. I got what I asked, but did not get what I hoped. Again, I am happy with it. Will give it my all when I arrive.
Still looking for rooms. But I know 400 pounds a month is a conservative estimate for a flat or house share. I am a large person, so walking will be good for me.
But, god, I will miss my family. And they will miss me a lot. My 2 year old always wakes up, comes to my office and we play. Every morning. I dread the thought of him knocking on the door, he opens it and I am not there.
I will make tons of videos of me talking to him and I will call him daily. But it is not the same.
On a side note; one of the comments I got at another site when I commented with what is wrong with asking for a web cam interview, was, why should the employer go out of their way to use skype or web cam? That comment dumbfounded me. They use a computer, don't they? So turn on the bleeding camera!!!
Anyway, will update further later on.
