Mine is 12 years old and has 226,000 kms on it - only 65,000 when I got it 5 years ago! It's such a sturdy little car, I've had it serviced regularly and it's never let me down. We've been everywhere together including a marathon trip from the Gold Coast to Mt Isa - luckily I do love a road trip! I'd only put the for sale sign in it 40 mins previously when this woman came over and wanted to have a look!

Think I'm just so busy at work atm, spent half my precious days off sorting everything out now I have to go back to the mechanic on Thurs. Because of the long hours I do I don't have the luxury of being able to pop in after work as I'm stuck on station for 8 days. Now I'll have to leave here at 0500 on Thurs to take car in for 0730 and then get a lift to the station and then try to organise a friend to pick it up for me if it's not ready that day as Thurs is the only day when there are two of us in!

When you work remote and you've got limited free time everything is just
twice as hard now I have a potential buyer and that bloomin engine light might put her off!! Still she seemed to really love it so we shall see - fingers crossed eh?!!!

Lol OMG!!!! I used to have an old Mini when I was at uni and I used to be able to do most things - oil change, spark plugs etc - myself cos it was such a simple engine! I do my oil, water and check brake fluid regularly but when I look under the bonnet of my (new style) Beetle I can only recognise the basics!!! Thanks for the laugh - still shaking my head at that one :eek:

Oh and just to let you all know the roof lining is booked in to be fixed for Weds and it's going to cost - wait for it - anywhere between $350-$420 to fix but without it can't get a road worthy certificate and won't be able to sell it. I actually want to cry right now I'm so over it :0(

I live in fear that either my car or my husband's work truck won't last the 3 more years we need them. Or the house could need a major repair. Just found out from a realtor yesterday that having a pool does not in any way increase the value of your house :frown: So we have decided not to fix the damn thing up as he said we would not get any of our money back. So at least we save on that :thumbsup: Over it, you say? Fight me as to who's more over it :lol:

Hope yr cars last!! I just can't believe that I'm only going to get around $6000 for my car and including the rego, roof and RWC. I've shelled out nearly $1000 this week already. I wish I could just sell it 'as is' like VikingSail suggested at a reduced price and say to the person you deal with the minor stuff but it's illegal to sell it without the certificate and it won't pass until the roof lining and engine light are fixed.

I'm the most independent person usually but right now I just wish I had someone to hold my hand a bit through things, I feel SO crap :(

Awww thanks mate! Yeah I'm not normally a cry baby and I do cope fairly well but I'm just SO DAMN tired of being on my own, having to do everything myself with no help whatsoever! I'm stressed and miserable, every time I do some extra hours the money gets chewed up by more bills. I just feel like it's one step forward and two steps back atm - grrrrr!!!

Thank you! I'll be without my car all day Weds so think I'll get some wine, go sit down the park and get drunk with the derros - well they all seem happy enough. No work, no bills, no responsibilities just lie in the sun, get rat arsed and throw sticks at people lol lol! I think they're on to something!!!! :rofl: :rofl:

Its weird. I've survived the past 5 years, all alone in a foreign country, work place bullying, a disasterous relationship, loneliness, moving house 6 times now etc etc and yet I'm cracking it now over my car of all things! :o My Nan always said if its got tyres or testicles then you are always going to have trouble with it!!!!

Maybe its true what they say about straws and camel's backs eh? I think what with the long hours at work, constant stressing and those damn lists I'm exhausted - feel like I could sleep for a month right now! :zzz::zzz::zzz:

It's stress Miss Betty. When my brother was ill and dying of cancer I broke a glass once. I bawled my bloody eyes out over something so insignificant. My stress levels have not reduced much I have to bloody take medication to lower my anxiety. it will pass but for now have to do what I have to do. you have a lot on your plate. the car is symptom of your stress..it too shall pass..

Just thought you'd all like to know where I am right now?! Was on my way to give a lady a test drive of my car and hit a pothole on the shite roads up here. Front tyre split then blew - only put in on in Oct. Just at the garage getting it replaced now. FML

That reminds me of when I was about to sell my car in 2007 to move to the USA and an old friend backed into it and bashed in the drivers side door. It went to the local cheapo repair shop to be fixed. Really annoying at the time. The last thing you want is extra grief when you are moving!

Lol! Ain't that the truth!!! Now another $130 poorer - arrgghh!!! I think it's highly likely I've walked over an ancient aboriginal burial ground or something ha ha ha!!!!! By the time I'm ready to leave I'm sure I'll be an alcoholic or in the loony bin with all of my nutjob patients. I'm a paramedic GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!!!!!!!
