Bon voyage. Take a long deep in breath when you land at Heathrow and a slow deliberate exhale then a broad smile across your face - well done :D

Will be watching your progress on the flight tracker.

I was just going to post that myself. That must be about the worst thing for Mrs Who right now  Hope its just a small blip in the road and she gets rerouted but I seem to remember she had a quick turnaround in Chicago.

OH says it must be weather related. So that means it probably is affecting a lot of other flights too. Hopefully, she will be rerouted or at least get another flight later. How disappointing...

Yes, thoughts to you MRs W if you read these posts we are rooting for you to get there. Not being smart ...s but I have long avoided Chicago for this reason but usually only in Winter and we are past that now, aren't we?

Weather - its been a balmy and sunny, bright blue skies, 17 C in Yorkshire or so I am told!

Anyway, a day's delay in Chicago might be fun :)

AA has grounded all flights and BA5724 was an AA flight. Poor MRs W. :(

:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed: for that to have happened. Otherwise she is likely 'crying a river' at Phoenix airport in some bar right now.

Re: The 'Bon Voyage' Thread! - Flight Tracker!

Greetings from sunny Arizona. roflmao. Okay, I know I am laughing, but inside I'm screaming at the top of my voice. It seems like you guys found out about the cancellation before I did..:rofl:

I got to Phoenix Sky Harbour, only to find a humungous line at the AA desk and staff walking around saying all flights had been cancelled because their computers were down, and had been for 2 hours, so they couldn't check anyone in. :( The staff were poorly organised and so unsympathetic, but I knew I'd get arrested if I hit one of them. I'd asked one lady staff member about my flight and explained about the international connection, but she just said (these are her exact words)" All flights have been cancelled, so I guess you're going to miss ALL your flghts" They weren't offering to try to reschedule any of the other passengers onto later flights, in fact they were just telling everyone to go home and call a 1800 number.

But being the type of person I am, I wasn't going to just sit there. So I got on the phone immediately with BA, explained the situation and asked if they could help me. No problem the man said, as it was an airline issue he'd rebook me on the next available flights all the way to Manchester.

Sooooooo, to cut a long story short I'm rescheduled on a BA flight for later tonight direct to London, a 3hr layover in London and then on to Manchester. Flight numbers are as follows:

BA0288 Departs Phoenix 7.25pm Arrives London 1.10pm Wednesday 17th
BA1396 Departs London 3.45pm Arrives Manchester 4.45pm Wednesday

So I arrive about 5 hours later than expected !

Oh honestly, I could just SCREAM ! So it's now 2.30pm PHX time, so we came home so I could go online and let folks know (especially the B&B who are expecting me just after noon.. lol)

The good part is I've been able to check in online and print my boarding passes, so I still managed to get window seats and it's a better flight being direct to London. Now I just have to get BA to refund the money I'd paid for selecting those window seats on the other itinerary.. LOL

So there you have it ! That's how my day has been going so far? How's yours?:rofl: It was so lovely to see everyone had been thinking about me and trying to follow my flight. :)

Yay me ! I prefer this flight anyway.. I go direct to London without having to navigate Chicago and panic in case I missed my flight. Now I get to relax at Heathrow for 3 hours :D :D :D

I don't think it will be dark at 4.45pm Manchester time by the time I get there, but there goes the plans to walk down to the chippy.. LOL I think by the time I've got my luggage and grabbed a taxi, it will probably be close to 6pm by the time I get to the B&B.

I guess I can't complain, at least BA were able to help me and could reschedule me without a problem. :)

So once again......I'm off ! See you on the flip side :D

To be honest I don't know the route but I know it goes over Minnesotta and on from there. :). It's a much better flight but one I didn't consider at first because of the time it landed in Manchester. Was hoping to grab a few things at the shop but they'll be closed possibly by the time I get to the B&B .

Okay, then it goes in the same direction but forms a shallower curve and heads just south of Newfoundland, according to Flightaware

You generally don't have to. Most people check in online 24hrs before and pick their seats then but I couldn't check in online with the first itinerary because it had an AA component, so I was concerned that by the time I got to the airport all the good seats might be taken. So I chose my seats ahead of time and paid for that privilege. Now they're refunding that money so they say lol

Great news MrsWho. Life is an adventure and it would have been so boring to just get on the original flight

I am very glad it worked out and kudos to BA for picking up the pieces and solving the problem. If you knew my previous with BA you don't know how hard it was for me to write that ;) It must be Karma for you and I am so happy.

Greetings from the airport :) am all checked in, my luggage is checked and I'm through security. Now I'm just sitting in the departure lounge and will start boarding in an hour. :). I may also be lucky and have an empty seat next to me :). That would be a bonus. The wobbles have diminished and I feel such a lovely sense of peace, it's wonderful. :). Well, serves me right for having an early night, I missed all the drama! So glad the flight got sorted, just having a look at flightaware and it looks like Mrs. Who is just out over the Newfie coast as I type. It looks like the flightpath took her right over my Dad's house as the plane crossed from US to Canadian airspace.

It's a shame about the delay Who but at least this way you'll get your first look at home in the broad daylight. Not to worry, there's still hope for the chippy if you're feeling up to it, it's light here until about 8pm at the moment which will be about the same for you at the B & B since you're a bit south west from me. Good luck and happy landings!
