other newsgroups. :-) I didn't know you guys were still on the ferry
discussion.

When I worked in Israel a decade ago, you could load your car onto a
ship and get passage above between Haifa and Cyprus, Greece, Turkey
and Italy. I think the same ferry connected Greece and Italy. I
imported three cars during my time there via Haifa.

This website http://www.paleologos.gr/intstep1.asp shows that you can
still book passage on these ships. For the definitive answer to
whether or not you can ship a personal car along with your passage,
give me a few days to email some friends who are still there.

The only Israel link I could find on that page was Rhodes-Haifa, and it
said that no company has operated that route since January 2006.

Looks like things have changed since I was there. My friends told me
that the car ferries that used to go through Cyprus have been
suspended for several years, and the ferries that used to come in from
Rhodes and Turkey have been discontinued. Looks like getting a rental
car to Tel Aviv is like getting one to.....Dubrovnik.
