... Ha! I hadn't thought of that. How do I get *that* woman to
... believe me?

Start by believing it yourself.

Or me. Maybe she just wants out of the trip? Does she travel by train
much?

Considering she's been the one doing most of the planning? No.
I don't think so. I've been before, she hasn't. Every time I
see her on internet it is looking at Europe travel information.

Plus, how could she resist going with a handsome devil like me?
;-)

> Does she travel by train much?

She used to go to work by train. About an hour long commute. I
know that's nothing at all like the high speed trains over there.
My experience was they are smooth as silk.

I don't mind driving, though. Get to see more of the
countryside. I don't know why everyone here is against it. I
haven't done it and am looking forward to the experience.

I lived in the US for over a decade, and trains were smooth there too.

I didn't think people were. I'm against driving, because I loathe cars
and I think you'd get around just as well with public transport, but
it's up to you to do what you want.

He's a socialist (his living is derived from the public purse...),
thus his hatred of private cars and "the peoples'" right to choose
them as a form of transportation...

In his case it's more along the lines of "Love is never having to say
you're sorry"...
