You can see why it might have been a good thing to get a logistics-military chap in charge of distribution of the vaccines!

By the way, the over 50s can now make their application for vaccination, and the 40-50 and 30-40s age groups are also due to be able to during June - date to be announced soon.

An update today from the Safe Communities Facebook page - for those who do not have Facebook or may have missed it ...

THERE ARE 60,000 WAITING FOR CONFIRMATION OF SELF-SCHEDULING VACCINATIONS
“IN PRINCIPAL SITUATION TO BE RESOLVED IN NEXT 3 DAYS”
There are more than 60,000 people over the age of 50 waiting for confirmation of self-scheduling for vaccination against covid-19. The number of registrations was so high that the services will need three days to book all orders.
The extension of the possibility of self-scheduling vaccination against covid-19 to people over 50 has led to a large number of accesses and registrations on the portal.
"We received about 700 thousand requests for self-scheduling and of those, about 60 thousand are in queue, but in principle, these 60 thousand will be solved in the next three days, explains the coordinator of the vaccination task force, Vice Admiral Gouveia e Melo, in statements to Antena 1.
Adherence was so high that in some centres vacancies were exhausted.
"It is natural that in one or another part of the country, because people booked very quickly, and they used up that capacity that was available, there is no capacity for the first week or the second week".
Currently, Portugal is administering between 40 and 50 thousand first doses per day, which correspond to half of the total capacity. The other half is for second doses.
According to the vice-admiral, the delays are related to the "identification of users, who have to be vaccinated, because we cannot, as has happened in the past, take a thousand vaccines to a site and, afterwards, anyone who appears is vaccinated".
"It has to be a controlled process, so it sometimes takes a little longer than is desirable."
The Minister of Health assured that in the next few days, “solutions will be made available” that in the coming days will allow “generating more scheduling slots and reducing this waiting list”.
COMMENT
We suggest after these 3 days those who have still not received a confirmation should call the SNS number 808 24 24 24, even if you have done so previously.
Dial 9 for English Listen for option 5 (or enter 5 immediately) If you speak Portuguese do not use option 9 await option 5- You are given some information including “if you have not received an SMS dial 3”, then “for vaccination issues” dial 1

So hold on, if you have not got sorted yet - they are working on it!! - RA
