Re: CABANAS GOLF DEVELOPERS DUJA

Hi. My date is 9th Feb on Golf II, planning on getting out there for a few days around then to do the snagging on the apartment and to arrange to get it furnished, has anyone got any recommendations for furniture stores in the area, also any reasonable hotels close by I can book. Thanks Darren

Re: Royal Duja Cabanas Beach 2 - progress?

I too put down a deposit on this development a few years ago. When I found that they did not have a construction licence I hired a lawyer and successfully persuaded the developer to return my deposit, I also received a small amount of compensation from the agents that advertised the property in the Sunday Times. Looks like I made the right decision!

We used a solicitor to do just that. It took all the rushing about out of it.
At least with the apartments etc being new there should no problem with "Blackmoney".
Something we wouldn't tolerate in the UK but part of everyday life "so they say" in Spain and Portugal.
We did however check the figure on our deeds at the end to ensure it was correct.

Hi Karen Jane. How long ago did you manage to get your deposit returned and did you use a lawyer in the Tavira/Cabanas area? Do you think any of us who are still waiting for construction to begin on Beach 2 have a reasonable chance of having deposits returned?

In my post of last week I made an entry that the rest of Cabanas Golf Phase 2 had the Habitation Licence.I have now been speaking to Celia in the Tavira office (we are supposed to complete on the 3rd Feb) and it would appear that this is not correct...they do NOT have the Habitation Licence for our block (the smaller L shaped block over the road..)It was the other lady in the office who told me ..I had asked categoric questions in case of communication problems and she was certain of this....
sorry for the wrong info but nobody more peed off than us.
We thought we were there and then this.
When Celia tells me we have the licence then I will believe it

hi matt, what i can,t get my head round is why the habitacion licences are applied to blocks and not phases i dont pretend to understand the ins ands outs of these things but common sense would suggest that the roads and the buildings and the painting would apply to each phase and not blocks hope it comes quickly

The licences for the whole block can be effected by one thing being wrong in one apartment, ie anything different to the original approved plans.

On the other side of the railway line is the Opomar development...they will have their owns bars/restaurants so good for the area.
If you do a google search you will find their web page ...has a January newsletter showing their progress...if you look closely on some of the photos you can see that phase 2 has been repainted the correct colour and they are moving across phase 3.Easier to view photos if you download to your pc

Hi, it was around March 07. I used a solicitor who has offices in Lisbon and London.

Hi Karen - did you approach the developers in the first instance? I wonder if you might post the contact details of the solicitors you used?

Re: LA GOMERA DUJA

In reply to a thread from KGFELLA back in Nov, I am also in the same situation as you with regards to paying a full deposit on La Gomera some 3 years ago now. Like you I have been offered to switch to another development like Cabanas but this isnt for me. Have you heard anything new about La Gomera , or possbile but unlikely refunds etc ?

Hi

I first contacted Foxtons who were the agent that I went through originally but had no joy. I then used Pacsa & Camera who liaised directly with the developer. Beware though because they are very expensive and didn't do a great job with the conveyencing on my current property.
