Flew from UK yesterday and at the boarding gate the crew wanted to see boarding pass, passenger locator form, and covid pre-departure test. Then at Faro passport control, as I only have NHS covid vaccination certificate, they wanted to see the pre-departure test. Everything went smoothly.

Once again the following statement appears in the Portugal Resident.

"One of the most significant changes is that Portugal will finally ‘recognise’ British vaccine certificates."

Albeit they do have 'recognise'.

When is the next official Portuguese Government statement due?

We are flying out of England for the schools half term holidays I would be very interested to hear from anybody who flies before then as to whether they were allowed to board the aircraft in England without a lateral flow negative certificate.
I had heard the Portuguese rules were going to change early October, but no definite sight of this anywhere.

Changes are happening now - latest report from Safe Communities on Facebook (always up to date with government updates - both UK and PT)
This one is for going back to the UK ...
NEW RULES FOR ARRIVALS TO UK FROM PORTUGAL STARTED TODAY.
From today at 04.00 am the rules for people arriving into the UK from Portugal have changed. The traffic light system has now gone and what is left is a red list and the “rest”. Portugal is in the “rest” so these are the rules for people arriving from Portugal.
Travel testing requirements are now primarily dependent on two factors: your vaccination status and whether the country you’re returning from is on the government’s red list.
If you’re double-jabbed, new travel rules are arguably set to become easier. Double-vaccinated travellers journeying back to the UK from Portugal will no longer have to carry out a pre-departure Covid test, but will still be required to book a PCR day two test to take within the two days after their arrival. However, PCR tests are set to be phased out by the end of October, which will allow travellers to book a cheaper lateral flow test for the day two.
If you haven’t had both vaccines, the Department for Transport has announced that arrivals to the UK will be required to self-isolate for 10 days on arrival in England and take two PCR tests on days two and eight (with the option of a third “Test to Release” on day five) - whether you’re arriving from a red list country or not. You won’t have to go to a quarantine hotel as Portugal is a non red-list country, but you can isolate yourself at home.
This is a change from previous rules, where unvaccinated travellers returning to the UK from green list countries were not required to quarantine - now they will need to do so.
There is still the need to fill out the passenger locator form in advance and upload it online.
For the full details go to the UK Travel advice website: https://www.gov.uk/.../travel-to-england-from-another...

and this is more general for coming into PT - posted 1 October
NEW TRAVEL ORDER PUBLISHED BY PORTUGUESE GOVERNMENT.
A new travel order was published overnight to cover the period from 01 October 2021 to 23.59 on the 31st October 2021.
This new order updates the third countries where non essential travel is now allowed subject to negative tests, and details the requirements for accepting the vacciination certificates from third countries based on a reciprocal basis agreement.
Highlights of this order are :
Non essential travel is allowed from Brazil, USA and United Kingdom subject to negative tests on arrival.
An updated list of third countries, special administrative regions and territorial entities and authorities not recognized as countries by at least one Member State of the European Union, whose epidemiological situation complies with Council Recommendation (EU) 2020/912, of 30 June 2020, and respective updates, whose air traffic to and from mainland Portugal is authorized, for non-essential travel purposes, subject to confirmation of reciprocity.
The list of countries are here:
1 - Saudi Arabia.
2 - Australia.
3 - Canada.
4 - Chile.
5 - South Korea.
6 - Jordan.
7 - Kuwait.
8 - New Zealand.
9 - Qatar.
10 - People's Republic of China.
11 - Rwanda.
12 - Singapore.
13 - Ukraine.
14 - Uruguay.
Special Administrative Regions
1 - Hong Kong.
2 - Macau.
Territorial entities and authorities not recognized as countries by at least one Member State
1 - Taiwan
There is still no agreement with the UK and the EU to accept the EU certificate without any testing required so this has not changed from the last order.

There is still no agreement with the UK and the EU to accept the EU certificate without any testing required so this has not changed from the last order.
"Non essential travel is allowed from Brazil, USA and United Kingdom subject to negative tests on arrival." You do not need to wait until you arrive in Portugal by air. As before, you should take your test in the UK and bring the resulting negative certificate with you to present to the present to the Portuguese authorities if requested.
Entering Portugal by air implies the presentation of the European digital certificate or vaccination or recovery certificate recognized by all citizens over 12 years of age. "Alternatively, they must present proof of carrying out a molecular laboratory test by RT-PCR or rapid antigen test with a negative result, carried out within 72 or 48 hours prior to the time of shipment, respectively", says the MAI, adding that they have to be tests approved by the European Union, which must identify the citizen, the manufacturer, indicate the date of the test and the result.

That's the way I read it. The Portugal Resident does keep teasing otherwise and I wish they wouldn't!

EasyJet are currently stating on their website that a UK(?) vaccine certificate is good enough but are also reportedly turning away travellers without tests. All the usual disclaimers apply about hearsay, FB etc.

Amongst other concerns I woould have, there are several different UK certificates - English, Scottish, Northern Irish.

The UK Gov site makes it clear at the moment: only an EU vaccination certificate is acceptable. See https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-ad...y-requirements
Presumably they will publish an amendment if the NHS certificate is accepted by the EU.

The same discussion on FB is now reporting that untested are having to be tested on arrival at Faro to be allowed in.

It isn't a complete EU washout for NHS acceptance. Spain is accepting it as well as a few others. It seems that PT isn't until the UK reciprocates with some sort of loosening of restrictions for arrival here We are arriving via Spain in a few weeks and all we need is our NHS certs and Spanish PLF.
