Re: WA Police International Transition recruitment
Could I ask a question of those that have interviews please.
I have been asked to bring to the interview details of those able to provide a work reference. Our force policy is that serving officers may not provide work related references and that all requests go via HR who provide a generic bland one with no real detail.
Do other forces have this policy ? If so, have you a plan to get around this?

So WA have already contacted Police Scotland and asked for my reference, but like you they have asked for the contact details for the reference during the interview as well, which they already have anyway from my application. I have just asked my nominated referees if they will be OK giving a reference even though they already have one from the force and they are fine with it.

It won't be a cheap move, we estimated about 10k with moving, flights and bringing out dog over, which in itself is about 2k. Will be worth it though!

We are a family of 3. Medicals would be around £1K, visas about £4K. I think between £5-7K for shipping and then flights. Obviously need some money to keep you going when you get there to get a rental/cars etc.
There is some significant outlay required for this bold move.
