I reserve sense of adventure for Bungee jumping, Heaphy track, great NZ outdoors at the destination, lol !How about the following for adventure, London to NZ using Low Cost airlines for 225 GBP plus tax ?

You never hear of any accidents in Shanghai, so i guess it is OK , i guess you must have a Visa to get out of the airport ?

I guess we're not that adventurous cos all that sounds like hard work
We will however be guided pretty much by price but not at the expense of OH having a nervous breakdown

Of course you need one if you leave the airport and have a long stopover. You sometimes need a Visa even for a stopover (even in Sydney in some cases), this is sometimes free. At Singapore you can leave the airport on a special tour of the city without a Visa , the bus is considered "Airside".
