OK Derrygal - where in Cornwall? I am actually looking at living in Cornwall myself - in this life, not the 'wish I could' life.

It's so nice to read your posts and hear how happy you are, because I was following your posts before you left. Gives me hope!

The Peak District is definitely somewhere that interests me - I just worry about the amount of rain!

Depending on what you are looking for - I had friends that lived in Carbis Bay outside of St. Ives. It was a lovely place - could walk along the cliffs to get from there to St. Ives. Just thought I would mention it..

A little house looking out over the Detroit River on Grosse Ile MI where we lived for 2.5 years. It might have been an old house, with a basement that flooded every few months (rain & tree roots don't mix!), but the neighbours were great, and I spent the happiest days of my life there.

It's been many years since I have visited Cornwall. When I lived in England I used to go there on vacation. Places that I remember are Fowey, St Austell, Falmouth - I believe these are all on the South coast. I also remember visitiing Truro and Truro Cathedral, also Bodmin Moor and stopping off for a drink at Jamaica Inn (Daphne du Maurier is my favorite author). I also love the "Poldark" books by Winston Graham and the subsequent mini-series on tv. I always thought that I would retire in Cornwall, but I'm not sure that will ever happen now.
I noticed on your public profile that you are going back to the UK on Sept
23rd. Are you moving back permanently then?

I'd have a place in Jersey in the channel Islands and a place in Bali. Spending six months in each place.

Well the rains not been so bad....and we would not have the lovely countryside otherwise....the rain does no bother us really as it never stopped us doing things when we first lived here, it aso never stopped us in Perth...and we did get a lot of rain there in the Winter as well.....I suppose it's what you want out of life...after a while you realise you cannot have it all (I wish..lol) you just have take the good things and roll with them....and thank you...yes we are all happy here....I know it's still early days but life is very good to us right now...and that's all you can ask for...

I would have a house in Canada and the UK and spend 6 months in each place, as I know that we would miss either if we moved back to one of them permanently.

Just wonderinig, how exactly can you "ruin" a rocky coastline in Cornwall? All you have to do is take your own pics of the area and walk away.
Of course it's commercialised, just like every area or building that people can make money from, is. If there wasn't anywhere to eat or buy things, people would complain.

Funny, I actually liked Duluth when I was up there a couple of years ago.
