Default Where would you rather be?

If money was no object... and family ties weren't a consideration... what village, town, city, State, County or Country would you call home - and why?

I think I'd try Cornwall and, if money was no object, I'd definitely want a house on a cliff overlooking the sea (but high enough not to flood!)

It may not flood, but over time, the cliff would crumble away, and it would end up in the sea

Good thinking - but money is no object remember, so I would just move out before that happened and get a big house further back

Money no object? I'd stay right where I am (might add some soundproofing).

I'd have a pied-à-terre in New York City, maybe somewhere in the west 80s .. walking distance from Zabars would be nice. And a modest house by the sea in England, Saltburn or Whitby would be options. Or Budleigh Salterton.

My brother lives in Budleigh Salterton nice place

On second thoughts, if money were no object, I would have a home in Cornwall, NS, Bermuda, Bahamas, Barbados, NY, France, Italy, and maybe a few others I haven't thought of yet

But owning extra homes is a bit of a worry - you'd end up travelling all year just to visit each one every so often.. I can't see owning more than two homes max. My thought is, have one home in a city (NYC) and one in a small town by the sea. My one minimum demand nowadays is, I don't want to live anywhere without public transport (minimum acceptable would be a relatively frequent bus route.) This is after living for 15 years in a remote rural location from which we ALWAYS have to drive.

Yes but if money is no object, then you wouldn't have to work, thus allowing plenty of time to travel to each home

I'd move us all to Carrickfergus, without a second thought. Either one of the bigger houses in my old neighbourhood, or buy some land with a view and build a nice big house there.

I'd open up a little musical instrument shop in the town centre and run a little recording studio for local bands out of a back room, and the children can go to my old schools and have a way better time than they'd have here. I'd not go mad with the money, just use it to travel, maybe learn to fly and buy myself a small plane to tour Europe.

Moving back 'home' has been on my mind a lot lately. Thanks for allowing me to indulge myself a little!

Yeah, I used to work for a really rich guy who had several big houses. He said he was always forgetting which things were in which house, so then he had to start buying everything in threes and having the extra items shipped to his different houses.

I think I'd prefer to have one house - doesn't have to be grand - and then take vacations in all the different places I like.

SultanofSwing, I love your dream! It sounds idyllic.
