I just went back to work today after spending the last 4 days in bed. I've never had the flu before but from what people have told me it certainly sounds like I had it.... I've never ached so bad in my life and I could have won the gold medal in the olympics for sweating, despite being freezing cold the whole time.

Hubby has started with symptoms today, but so far the kids that live with us (touch wood) are fine.

Just found out tonight that my 5 year old stepson (who lives with his mother and comes to us on weekends, but not this weekend because I was so sick) has managed to get both H1N1, and regular flu at the same time. He's chronic asthmatic and atm his mom is counting his attacks and if he gets to a certain number he has to be admitted straight to Childrens Hospital. Why the hell they just can't admit him anyway is beyond me.

Lets just say next year as soon as I see those adverts for flu shots I will be camping at the door to the store because there is no way I want to feel that ill again!

I've only had flu once...it was about 5 yrs ago. We'd been to a New Year's Day wedding in Rochester...when we were about 3 hours from home I started to feel unwell. By the time we got home I felt absolutely dreadful...my husband came down with it the next day. We spent the next week flat on our backs...it took well over a month before I felt anything like normal again.

Only had the flu once myself about 11 years ago, so now when people have head cold and say it's the flu I just laugh.

We were in Gloucester at xmas time about a half hour from home, my shoulders started aching and by the time we had got home I was in bits. Went to bed and stayed there for 4 days and did nothing but sweat and drink water.

http://www.flu.gov/ has a locator but in the end you usually have to call the different clinics and pharmacies to see if it is available.
I am waiting for the shot to arrive, county health department says by November 1st the county should have 400,000 doses between private doctors and public health centers.

The nasal is available at some doctors and county clinics but they only received 28,000 doses total.

Normally I dont vaccine against the flu, but H1N1 has me nervous and since I am prone to respitory problems when I get ill, I dont wanna chance it.

We shall wait and see how the next few days pan out.

In the meantime, it is cold and bug season anyway, and I'm sitting here with a thumping head cold. Feel like I have a tight hat on around my forehead!

Love it .....
Hope your daughter turns out to have just regular ole' cold/flu

Flu hits you very quickly...in a few hours as opposed to a cold that gets worse over a few days.

Makes me laugh too...like people who say they have migraine when they are still upright.

I know that cracks me up when people are walking around saying they have flu.

Sams Club were offering the seasonal vac for $20 yesterday. They were giving the shot from 12-3pm. We got there at 1.10pm and they were all out. They said that people had been lining up 2 hours early and they were all out by 12.15!
