Were both cases confirmed in the lab as being swine flu?

I went to see the doc yesterday and he said "Would you like a flu shot? I am asking you so as I dont get sued, this is America after all" all the while shaking his head no.
There again he is from Blackburn.

I was under the impression that you could only get one flu strain once, then you were immune

I called about getting my Son the H1N1 shot, they said they only have the regular flu shot, is that better than nothing? or is it best to wait?

He has had the flu shot for the last 4 years, they usually call him in as they say he is high risk?
I know the H1N1 is different, I am not really too keen on him getting the regular one and then not being 'able' to have the swine flu one, his school district has had a case of swine flu confirmed and I would just prefer him get whichever one is going to do him the most good (resistance wise)

So, he needs both. Do you know where and when he can get each of them?

The base said they have the regular flu shots and I can just do a 'walk in' to get him that, but I have no idea if they will get the swine flu one, the guy I talked too said he didn't know if or when

I will, if given the opportunity take my son in for the swine flu vaccine, I think it is probably more for my peace of mind than his, but there you go, I'm a Mum

Interesting reading, I agree that the regular flu vaccine isn't really necessary for a lot of people, maybe not even for my son, who is considered high risk, but the swine flu is a bit different, it does worry me when I see numbers of over 750 kids already dying from the virus, I know this isn't an extremely high number considering the population, but it does bother me.

I also don't know who to trust on the whole efficacy issue - it seems there's a lot of conflicting information out there. I live in a state which requires more shots for kids than any other, and coincidentally there are huge revenues to be made from all the pharmaceutical companies who have a home in the state, I'm naturally skeptical that the reason for promoting them is because of our wellbeing.

Again, how do you know what side to believe? It does seem that the push from the drug companies plays a huge part in the uptake here in the US and I really don't trust the medical system here because of it is based on driving for profit.

Plenty of other websites reported the same thing: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...icle614629.ece

In PA some pediatricians have been vocal in saying they wouldn't give it to kids because it has been rushed out without enough testing. I've also read that because it's in short supply some states have temporarily suspended mercury limits for certain mercury-containing H1N1 vaccines.
