Does anyone know or is there anyone out there that has done the organising themselves instead of using Dogtainers/Jets for pets?
When I took my dog for his blood test the vet asked if I was doing it, as its alot cheaper, said its not hard just a bit of running around in the car for documents to Eagle Farm near the airport. Im in Brisbane (Redland Bay) any advice would be appreciated.

I brought my two golden retrievers back from the US and did it all myself. It is a lot of paperwork for your vet but very little for you to complete. The vet I used had experience with the pet passport scheme so that made it a lot simpler.
The costs for both dogs:
$500 for the initial blood tests
$400 for the paperwork, health check, flea and tick treatment at my vets
$80 for the state vet to stamp and issue the official third country vet cert
$3500 for flights from Chicago to Heathrow with British airways who were great as were the people at the ARC at Heathrow.
I know these costs are from the US not Aus but it is definitely possible to do it yourself and Im sure it will be much cheaper.
