Re: Anyone else bored?
hello ellie10990 I dont know if you remember I have just moved up to brisbane about nine weeks ago We are currently renting in Samford which is really nice 3.5 acres,4min drive to the school and the village shops,I really didnt like Adelaide lived there for 2 and half years,to be really honest I got quite depressed and eventually went to the doctors and got help, even still I never enjoyed adelaide I just got my strenght back to plan our move to qld.My attitude hasnt changed,if that makes sense,I am no different from what I was in adelaide,my surroundings are a lot nicer the neighbour next door has about 7 ponies on his land so I see them all the time we have a family of ducks that have taken a fancy to our dam sulpher crested cocatoos regularly visit our trees even a snake was outside our front door maybe not so nice But I didnt freak out like I expected to.The most noticable thing I have noticed the people are alot nicer ,happier, layed back.I could never imagine living in Adelaide again in fact it was a death sentence.I have even got a job I have been working now for 2 weeks but in Adelaide I struggled for 2 and half years, things like this just make such a difference.I hope you find what you are looking for in Brisbane and good luck if you do a reccie And you are up near samford I wouldnt mind meeting up if you like take care z
We are doing a reccie in 2 weeks so we shall see
I just cannot stay here in adelaide any longer, feel like I am dying inside slowly and marking time instead of living

Re: Anyone else bored?
hello again I have total empathy with you and understand were you are coming from, just focus on your reccie and see how you feel, everyone is different,I just feel here were I am is just lovely plenty of acerage properties around, plenty of space you are not living on top of people, our rent is expensive but we are waiting to see how the market goes I reckon there could be some bargins to have.We are only 35 minute drive away from the city if we need it,and hour drive away from some really lovely beaches.Stay strong and dont let Adelaide win there is truely a real Australia out here waiting for you.We have all agreed in our family we will give it 2 years in Qld to see how we go and the next stop will be the uk but honestly after 9 weeks or so I feel I have settled better here than I ever did in 2 and half years in Adelaide, and I am not under any illusions,I may not feel like that after a longer period but for now it is just perfect.take care z

Bored? Yes, totally! And I am an Aussie, with a job and a family. I can't wait until we are in the UK and there are things to do!

In mclarenVale SA(40 min south of adelaide) and bored beyond belief what do these people do for fun?
Incessant talk about food, seem never to socialise pubs shut by 1030.
We had a great house in ireland, hubbys twin came here 17 years ago, he and his wife are probably the dullest people i have ever met!
What was this for? Granted my husband wanted to come and be near his twin that has changed dramatically have not seen him in over a month ( he lives 10 min away) Can you go back and be so skint We have went bacjk 10 years money wise, should have listened to my dad

Yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn yawn
Sorry just scraping the cobwebs off myself after falling asleep from complete utter dire boredom and I am in Melbourne the "culture capital"!
Hubby was telling his Aussie colleagues the various things we'd seen & done since arrival 5 months back and they were amazed & told him we'd done it all. We haven't even done that much..

Re: Anyone else bored?
It is interesting that the younger men who i work with(19 to 30).All want to visit europe, but they can't because of financial obligations.
One even said the other day" My gran was a pommie, does that mean i can get a passport and live in London?"
I don't think so,but it shows that a lot of young Aussies would like to try what we've done, but can't for some reason or another.
Another Aussie work mate of mine is only 23 owns two properties but can't afford to go out at the weekend,he also states that he would like to work in the UK at some point in his life but he's financially screwed.
My point is,i think a lot of Aussies are institutionalised, which is a shame for them.
At least weve seen the other side of the coin, and UK wins for me hands down.
