"We are the Special Forces of spiritual warfare, we're looking for a few good warriors."

Some things just don't mix. This brings to mind David Koresh and the Davidians. When I think I've seen every perverted twist of the christian religion, something like this pops up.

As I mentioned last time this guy came up, he's a local nutter who most folks don't have any time for. His "church" consists of two or three families, meeting in his house. Oh, and he looks a bit like Hitler.

I just wonder what he wants his "warriors" to do. In my opinion, Christians are servants, not soldiers. Of course there's the Salvation Army, but that's a completely different league. From what I've seen, groups like this tend to operate on the principle of exclusion. There's always an "enemy", be it the government, gays, or even all outsiders. True Christians operate on the principle of inclusion. They'll take anybody, and their only rules are those written in the bible. That said, there are a lot of mainstream Christians, particularly evangelicals, who are focused on greed.

what happens generally is that people take their own personal desires and hates no matter how unjustified, then they take aspects of a religion, they interpret it or even change it somewhat so it fits their own desires/hates and then they use the assertion that that religion is somehow cosmically significant and correct and hey presto their own desires and hates are suddenly justified and thats when things start to go bad, and unfortunately its still happening today.

Why are you people even listening to this lunatic? Nobody in Texas pays him any mind ... except for other lunatics.

We all have our odd-balls ... but Texas just seems to have a few too many! George Bush, whoever shot JFK, etc ... ! But I guess CA gave the world Reagan ...

I have a love/hate relationship with Texas. She's like a relative that I am free to insult but I feel defensive when other people criticize her. There are a lot of crazies here but I've always thought that was one of the best aspects of the state. Anyway, all the top quality people I've known are from here so it can't be all bad.

I love Arizona. I'm sure I could be happy there.

That's kind of how I feel.I'm happy here but some days I long for when we can retire and move but if we do we will probably end up somewhere else in Texas But in a way that is one of the reasons I like Texas because it is so big and everywhere is different, if you know what I mean....
New Mexico is where I would really like to go.
