Flying to Gibraltar can really only be done from the UK so its not really an option. There used to be flights from Morocco but I think they have stopped.

It would be version of hell unparalleled in modern times, like living in an all inclusive outdoor Wetherspoons.

They’re apes at the top of the rock. Monkeys are elsewhere. It’s not too bad a place, it has the feel of a small market town, except the 100’s of tobacco and booze shops everywhere given the lack of tax on anything.

This is probably all academic anyway given that the UK will probably be back in partial lockdown by the summer.

Given the proximity of this region to India and the very likely circulation of the Indian variant in GCC countries, my best guess is that the red list will remain.

Ignore that. I just had a look at Sky.

The news report did say that there were tentative signs that the vaccines work against the IV though. So wouldn't the 70% vaccination rate in the UK stop widespread contagion if that's the case?

And if it is the case then why have more lockdown. Not saying you're wrong but I thought the point of vaccination was that life goes back to normal.

The point of vaccination was to stop you dying. I don't think "back to normal" is going to happen for a long time, sadly. As for the UK, it's just a hunch based on Mr Don't-Act-Until-It's-Too-Late-Then-Impose-Massively-Harsher-Measures-Than-You-Would-Have-Otherwise-Have-Had-To-Do Johnson's track record.

I'm ok with not dying being the bar.

Which is working isn't it? Deaths are way down. If the vaccines do work against IV why would this change?
