Thankfully, he is none too bright so we won't need much money for university fees.

You won't get far in life if you can't write properly. No wonder degrees aren't worth what they once worth if graduates are unable to use proper English.
You'll get farther in life if you take the time to write good English, communicate properly (any prospective employers reading this forum won't take your posts seriously) and make an effort to sort yourself out, rather than feeling sorry for yourself and thinking the world owes you a living.

I'm pretty sure you must be a troll, but the OP isn't lucky. He has worked hard and made an effort to secure a decent job.

You said in the other thread you have a degree, but you don't have a job yet? Now, this might sound nasty, but going on your spelling and grammar, I'm going to assume it was what's known as a Mickey Mouse degree? It's either that – and you didn't do very well in it (scraped a third maybe), or you're just being lazy when you're on a forum.
Either way, you're not going to give the right impression to potential employers (especially as you've used your real name).
On the point of you only being on minimum wage, it is a lot more expensive to live out here. A lot.
I guarantee you that what you're paying to maintain the quality of life you have now is probably about 40-50 per cent of what it actually costs due to all the government subsidies.
You then need to add another 50 per cent on to that value to get a rough idea of how much it costs to live out here.
In other words, people who earn the equivalent of £20,000 a year (£16,135 after tax), are certainly not living UK council house/minimum wage-type lifestyles.
That's about AED7,670 a month. To give you an idea, I live in flat you'd pay around £450 a month for in the UK outside of London. Here, I pay around AED6,335 a month (£1,110 a month). That's a two bed flat in an okay area.
In other words, even your aspiration of £20,000 a year is nowhere near enough to live out here. Even a single westerner would struggle on that.
I'm single, live on my own (share with one other person). I'm on a decent wage a year. My wage might sound like a lot to a UK person, but in reality, it's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

On the income side of things, you mustn't overlook the costs. Schooling here for 2 kids will set you back somewhere between 10-20k GBP a year, a 2 bed flat in an OK part of town will cost you 16k GBP. It all adds up buddy. A car / taxis will probably cost you 300 quid a month.
Suddenly 10k and a cheap house doesn't seem so bad...
Anyway, I wish you all the best. I know the UK is very tough at the moment.
