Not necessarily. Depends on today's results.

Why should we care, or it matter who we play next? If we're not good enough to take on any country and beat them, then we're not going to win the tournament, are we?

I waited until 9:00 when they said they replay the US game but they were still showing the US goal. Canadian tv makes me want to puke.

Its about momentum. Play a few soft teams and get up a head of steam to face the ******s later in the tournament.

Exactly. England progressed in 1990 thanks to topping the group and playing Belgium and Cameroon before facing a really top team. Failure to get a second goal today will be costly.

We've already been unconvincing against 3 supposedly softer teams. How many 'easy' games does a decent team need before purportedly being capable of taking on a tougher challenge?

Either you're capable from the get go, or not.

I didn't say we weren't crap it's just easier for England if we play other crap teams.

The more 'easy' games the better. Looking at it the other way I'm sure Germany would rather play USA then England.

Possibly. But they're not out of the group yet. If they only draw with Ghana (or of course lose) and Serbia win, the Germans are toast.
