What sucks about this forum?

Everyone is selling something!
I know a few realtors, and could have become one if I was willing to do what they do to reach success. Succesful realtors work hard and offer a good service.

spliting hairs me thinks - i wasn;t quoting him directly, but the essence of his posts and the responses that he got were motivated by such baseless comments. Given the totality of his comments, he clearly thinks Canada is crap and warns others as such. Sorry, didn't see any positive comments.

I don't know if "sucks" is the right word but for me, there are a couple of things that I feel could be better.
There is definitely a "them" and "us" mentality with some members who look like they feel that the rest are just fodder for them to take the piss out of.
I have seen a member give out great advice on one thread and then just make themselves look a right tool by trying to be too clever on another.
Fledermaus seems to be the voice of reason at the moment and says what she believes.
If balanced means either really good or really bad the I suppose it is.
And yeah, I am one who does'nt post all the time because I cant be arsed with personal attacks anymore.

7. Comments made about cultural aspects to life in Canada that are not positive, are always met with aggressive remarks along the lines of "who the hell do you think you are?!", and "if you don't like it, p-off back to your country". I've even received these from Canadians who frequent the site. Making such a remark in Britain against an immigrant would be unthinkable. So why it's excusable here is confusing.

Fled is one of my favourite posters too; one of those whose posts I actively seek out even when the thread topic has no interest to me personally.

Personal attacks have no business being on a forum. You can disagree with someones point of view and comment without attacking the individual. But I think that sort of thing is moderated fairly well.
I think that some posters take it very personally when their opinion is challenged.

you got that right
Unfortunately Alan. Bodger insists on making it our problem too
and egotistical? as if anyone cares that you're putting them on your ignore list??
I think this forum would be much more polite if we all had our real names visible.
I know I am far more restrained in my use of colorful language, cutting jibes, and general insults than if I were not totally identifiable.
Its very easy to hide behind a "nom de plume" or with some of you "a nom de guerre" -

I do, but nobody wants my kidney
Strange as it may seem, if I hung around on this forum merely to sell myself I would have given up long ago, as so many do, as the time/return ratio is so small as to be virtually non-existent.
I do my best to give good real estate advice to anyone on here, no matter their Province or Country, because it lets me contribute to the forums in an area where I have expert knowledge, and I enjoy it (most of the time, though I find the continual snipping becomes ever more tiresome).
So I suppose thats something that sucks about this forum, despite all the good advice I have given over the last few years on these forums, I continually have to defend my choice of career.

I have respect for you and the advice you offer, BUT to claim you have expert knowledge outside of your own city/board let alone province is going a wee bit far

While I feel for CC, I do think a lot of what he talks about is just culture shock (well, not "just" culture shock because culture shock can be pretty intense) that's pretty normal with immigration to any country, not just Canada.
Like cov-canuck I also immigrated to the UK, once as a child, and lived there again as an adult. I agree with his/her comment about being an immigrant in Britain. It's no easier than being one here, a fact I think some expat brits don't always appreciate when they slag off Canada. Fair enough I spose.

It still does me. For me I have run out of options and I'm not at all enthusiastic about moving back. It's a MASSIVE unknown and one that I could regret. But it's like a fight or flight situation. It seems the right thing to do under the circumstances. Being destitute here where I have no family and few friends and connections for me is worse than Britain where I have these. They may not be perfect but they exist.
But I probably want to move back to Britain as little as anyone. It's just my options have run out. And I know I'm unlikely to ever return. I'm as thick skinned as anyone but in a crisis here, one that I have been battling for years.

And I don't mean that to be a slight against the other 99% of us ladies because I include myself in the majority too.

Not to sure about all these threads about male members, female members and the what sucks on here right now. This place is getting a bit scary
for one of my gentile (nearly spelled that wrong!) disposition.
