I never ate mushy peas with fish and chips, although that said, we rarely had enough money for fish, it was mainly just a saveloy.

I realize I'm rather in danger of confirming cultural assumptions, but if my mum got to my dad's wage packet before he done it down the bookies, she'd take us for pie and mash with lashings of liquor. Hmmmm.

Yummmmmy! I always had a saveloy on fish and chip nights - none of those snotty peas though. AND cockles on Hovis on a saturday afternoon whilst watching the wrestling
