UK General Election

Re: UK General Election
Any anti brexit voter that's been used to voting labour will continue to do so. The tories will hoover up leave voters of all persuasions and the libdems, well they'll do what they always do, think outside the box... when the smart money's on the inside.

The post with the video #216.
Superficially she seems quite promising, the more you look though...

Young (ish) although not by the standards she was advocating 15 years ago, female yes that seems to be about it when put to her and Ed Davey when they were interviewed on Newsnight during the leadership election. Feisty, well ok maybe she’s going to sing a verse from Wilson Philips Hold On next.

Re: UK General Election
The problem with Swinson is she belongs to a party that states that it wants to revoke art 50, BUT the only way she will get into power is by power sharing with Johnson, and she will NOT get him to agree to stopping Brexit. She certainly fits the Tory Mould, voted with every policy they have put forward until the Brexit votes.

Re: UK General Election
Then why has she been cosying up to him, trying to split votes where Labour has the chance of unseating the tories if the Libdems don't stand. She is from the same mold at Johnson

It's a mess isn't it.
Pity the poor helpers, those canvassers, unappreciated by candidates, who do the door-to-door trudging to respectfully try to find out how the land lies, and if I express a little sympathy perhaps it's because I've been there.
But this election's different. In addition to the usual "Will you be supporting us?", there'll likely be additional, unwelcome instructions from on high, to undertake interrogations of the busy homeowner trying to find out whether they're remainers or leavers.
This'll give those homeowners so inclined, and there are lots out there, the excuse they're looking for to tell these poor sods to "Bugger off!"
Like I say, pity those at the bottom.

Re: UK General Election
I don't understand why the election process still includes door-to-door canvassing and flyers in 2019. Most voters have a TV or a computer/phone, so it's easy enough to get the message out and provide forums for those that want to engage. What % of a constituency is hit/sampled by door-to-door, it must be quite low.

Although a long time ago, I still remember a fleet of cars transporting the faithful to the voting station who couldn't otherwise make it, but perhaps that's been overtaken by other methods of voting but how do you find out who'll be needing help to vote unless you ask?
But I suspect you're correct. It'll be the sweet voice on the phone that's taken the place of the foot soldier, easier to do in the pouring rain.

Meeting him at No 10 in private, moving to stand nest to him at the queesn speech where she had to poush through two lines of people, smiling and nodding at points he has been making in his speeches even though he has been talking abpout points that are contrary to Lib Dem policies.
