My wife's a perfect example of that. I looked a right knob at an event last week with a wrinkly shirt

Yeah, but on the other hand, they are really good at being passive aggressive.

The really strange thing is, is that i find Canadian people more polite in person than British people, but find British people more courteous drivers, letting you out at junctions and allowing you to change lanes.

However woe betide you if you accidentally pull out in some one in UK.....you are DEAD meat....super road rage, where as here, they dont seem to perturbed.

You do realize though, that if you do that, and cause an accident.,you are at fault.

Unsafe lane change insurers and police call it. Even if they don't hit you, if a collision results from an unsafe lane change liability is on the driver who made the lane change. I friend just got dinged in a big way for just such an issue. In BC insurers don't accept the lane change complete until the vehicle has traveled 4 vehicle lengths or more in the lane.

I dont make an unsafe move per say, id like to call it a more aggressive move, no one has to brake sharply, i wouldnt make such a dangeorous manoevre, but they may have to slow down to accomodate me.

You have to do this, as people just dont let you in like they do in the UK, this is hilighted even more on the 401, im suprised there are not more accidents, lane discipline on there is non existent, and people dont let you across, so if your exit appears sooner than you expected, your stuffed!

My REAL pet hate on the 401 one though is due to lack of lane discpline people drive in what lane they want and undertake, this is highly dangerous and should be more of a priority to be enforced by police than say speeding on a clear, bright, dry road.

You have idiots sitting in the outside left hand lanes doing 80-90k instead of returning to the inside lane after overtaking, so other drivers get frustrated sitting behind them and decide zoom up the inside....sometimes with not even anywhere to go!! its just stupidity and very dangerous. HUGE pet hate of mine!!!

Well in my books, that is a dangerous manoeuvre. Forcing another vehicle to behave differently, especially when you do not have the right of way, is dangerous.
As frustrating as it is, and I know it' frustrating, the best way to deal with it, is not to deal with it and let it pass. Forcing equates with aggressive, and aggressive driving is not the same as defensive driving.
You may have just been lucky up to now, but as said IF and WHEN this causes an accident, it is YOU who will be at fault.
Drive safely for all our sakes, even though we all know there are bad drivers out there.

Every car on the road "forces" other vehicles to behave differently. It's called driving In public.

That's a given, but I don't believe that is what we are talking about here.
Someone " forcing " someone to give up their right of way, is not safe driving.

I understand what you say, however from an at fault perspective, any vehicle changing lanes involved in a collision is almost always at fault for an unsafe lane change, unless there are witnesses to the contrary.

When i change lane, and it's safe to do so at the start of the move, and the dickhead behind continues with his acceleration or high speed rather than wait a second or two for me to get up to speed, who's fault would that be if they hit the back of my car or swerve into another lane causing another car incident?

It's all confusing.

If Canadians just drove intelligently, thinking and analysing more than 10 feet ahead we'd all be much safer.

But that would mean the driver has to actually look at the road and avert their gaze from their smart phone
In most cases a driver who runs into the rear of another is deemed to be at fault.
